Landfill & Transfer Station Services
Richmond Valley Council operates a landfill at Casino (Nammoona), as well as transfer stations at Evans Head, Bora Ridge and Rappville. Charges are levied as per the current Council Revenue Policy. For full details of charges, download the document at the end of this page. Council now operates tip shops at Nammoona and Evans Head facilities (refer below).
Council is an active member of North East Waste, a regional group of Councils working collaboratively towards cost-effective waste management solutions. For further information, visit the North East Waste webpage.
Separate services for e-waste, fluorescent tubes, batteries, steel, gas bottles and tyre recycling are available at all landfills and transfer stations.
The Nammoona Tip Shop is currently closed for relocation. A new and improved Tip Shop will open on the other side of the weigh bridge once works are completed.
The new area will be larger and have an even bigger range of recycled and reusable items for sale at great prices.
There is a lot of work still to be done such as power connection, establishing a car parking area, new fencing, new directional signage and the fit-out of the new storage area with new shelving.
Get excited as we will announce our opening date soon! Apologies to any incovenience caused to our valued customers.
Richmond Valley Council has joined the drumMUSTER program, which provides Australian agricultural and veterinary chemical users with a recycling pathway for eligible empty agvet containers. Council now accepts clean, triple-rinsed used farm chemical containers at all our landfill and transfer station sites at Casino, Bora Ridge and Evans Head. This collection is free of charge.
On arrival at the landfill, please advise the site supervisor who will inspect containers to make sure they are free of chemical residue. Steel and plastic drums are accepted, containers must be triple rinsed and lids should be removed before delivery.
