Embracing Change

Richmond Valley Council Embracing Change LogoExpectations by the NSW Government’s Department of Planning are that Richmond Valley’s population will more than double over the next 20-30 years. This increase will have an enormous impact on current business and lifestyle. We must approach, manage and maximise this growth in a positive and effective way that ensures the best possible outcomes for those of us who choose to live in this wonderful part of the world.

To this end, a Valley-wide economic development planning process has commenced that will result in an Economic Development Strategy. This Strategy will provide the region with the foundation for attracting investment, strengthening our business and industry environment and stimulating local and regional employment opportunities.

To assist in preparing the Economic Development Strategy, it is my pleasure to introduce the Richmond Valley Embracing Change Project, an initiative of the Richmond Valley Council, supported by the NSW Government’s Department of State and Regional Development. I strongly encourage all businesses, all individuals and organisations in our communities to embrace this project that will lead to a quantified, planned approach to the future. If we work together we will be assured of the best possible outcomes and can look forward to living and working in a prosperous, bright and vibrant region that we will all be proud to call home.

The Business Retention and Expansion Survey attached is a major component of the Project. Please, complete it and return it. The data collected will play an integral role in influencing the Richmond Valley Economic Development Strategy.

The future economic, social and environmental well being of the entire Richmond Valley is a priority. I encourage everyone to be involved in this Project and become a major part of shaping our region’s future.

Yours faithfully,

Cr Col Sullivan OAM
