Broadwater Shared Cycleway

Broadwater Shared Cycleway

Richmond Valley Council has secured funding from the NSW Government to construct a shared cycleway from Broadwater to Broadwater National Park. Detailed design plans can be viewed and downloaded from this page, and are also on display at Council’s Customer Service Centres in Casino and Evans Head.

The shared cycleway starts on Little Pitt Street and will be located on the southern side due to physical constraints on the northern side of the road. The construction includes a pedestrian refuge island on Little Pitt Street and kerb blister islands on George Street. These will provide safe crossing points for pedestrians and will assist with traffic calming in these streets. Drainage works include the installation of box culverts and stormwater pipe extensions to accommodate the 2.5m wide shared path.

Council will be placing the project out to tender in coming weeks, with contracts for the construction of the shared pathway and crossings to be announced in February. Construction work on this important community asset should take around four months, with an expected completion date of May. There will be further updates as the work progresses.

We recognise works of this nature can be an inconvenience to residents and we thank you for your patience and understanding while this project is underway. If you wish to discuss the project further, please do not hesitate to contact Council’s Project Engineer Jeff Breen on 6660 0300, or by email to jeff.breen@richmondvalley.nsw.gov.au
