What an exciting time for the Richmond Valley community! Not one but two significant government grants have come our way to help build our signature projects. On Tuesday 25 July we saw the announcement of a $7 million grant from the NSW Government for the Northern Rivers Livestock Exchange's (NRLX) stage two upgrade, announced by Premier Gladys Berejiklian during her visit to Casino with Clarence MP Chris Gulaptis. The $14 million project will fully modernise the Casino facility and, importantly, improve animal welfare, environmental management, and workplace health and safety.
Then on Thursday 3 August Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan, accompanied by the Minister for Regional Development, Senator Fiona Nash, announced a $700,000 contribution under the Building Better Regions Fund to match Council's $700,000 to enable the Woodburn foreshore redevelopment to get underway early next year. Plans include a new function centre, which will include a visitor information centre and will also provide a modern space where community groups and individuals can gather to celebrate or simply enjoy the view, as well as a new timber jetty and connecting pontoon.
Our success in getting funding highlights the benefits of our new Community Strategic Plan as we have secured funding for our top projects in the first month of its life!
